Textual content description offered by the architects. The primary problem within the challenge was to provide the area people a significant church again. As a paradox, the tragic lack of the previous church gave delivery to a brand new starting. The theme of the brand new church thereby turned resurrection. Along with the artist, Espen Dietrichson, we labored with totally different design components to manifest the theme by the challenge. An important aspect is the work with daylight coming into the church from totally different daylight openings. This symbolizes hope, and that mild defies darkness, after the tragic lack of the previous church.

The challenge is cladded in core-pine on the skin, and in birch-plywood on the within. This represents the large pine- and birch woods that encompass the location, wherein the challenge needs to belong. The core-pine is a pure and natural materials, which within the Norwegian local weather will get its darkish patina. Slowly the pine cladding returns to nature, and each fifty years the cladding might be changed, and the church might be «reborn» for brand spanking new generations.

The types of the building are designed by strict geometric guidelines. The plan is quadratic and divided by a diagonal procession-axis going from a small Chappell, positioned south, and over to the principle church room positioned north. Two towers are exhibiting the place the liturgics factors are positioned within the church. The best tower is 24m excessive, and the small tower is 12m. The towers have over lights on the highest, making a view from the viewers in direction of the sky. On the similar time, the over lights enable daylight to enter the rooms.

Within the website plan, the footprint of the previous church is rebuilt to make a memorial. The previous church is delivered to relaxation between the graves on the previous graveyard.
