Textual content description supplied by the architects. The city of Ecquevilly stands on the highest of a hilly panorama opening onto huge fields. After the arrival of Renault’s manufacturing unit in Flins, this village (which had grown in keeping with its 16th-century citadel’s structure) skilled three waves of enlargement: first, a brand new giant residential space, then an exercise space, and at last a big housing property.
The latter has a typical fashionable morphology. A linear building, a couple of kilometer lengthy, stands out of scale in comparison with the city’s common scale. The venture replaces one of many sections of this building: its demolition was carried out as a part of the restructuring of the district led by city planners JAM architecture-territories.
The 2 separate plots of this operation are positioned on the border between the historic a part of the city and the massive fashionable buildings space. This distinctive state of affairs requires a peaceable transition, leading to a hybrid design that’s each modern and impressed by conventional architecture.
26 middleman flats. Two completely different altimetric platforms outcome from this steeply sloped plot, with one-floor degree distinction between every: the decrease floor ground and the higher floor ground. Beneath the higher floor ground is hid the operation’s underground parking. The homes are organized round a central backyard which provides views over the vast panorama.
All volumes evolve from an asymmetrical longhouse profile with an similar thickness of eight meters. This association permits the event of dual-aspect flats, to make sure a bioclimatic architecture. Roofs have been designed with the intention to brighten up these volumes. 5 indifferent homes. Within the second plot, 5 indifferent homes match harmoniously into the skyline of République’s road, characterised by homes with various shapes and tendencies. Some variation is launched by alternating the roofs’ slopes course. Personal driveways separate constructed volumes.
The three historic registers (base, physique, and roof) are reinterpreted in a up to date model. The bottom is made from taupe-colored stained concrete and the physique is coated with a gray-tinted render. Double-sloped roofs are made from pure zinc for the multi-unit building and pre-weathered zinc for homes. Wooden in guardrails and fences present heat. This venture obtained the NF Habitat RT2012-10% label, which certifies its energetic efficiency.
